Sample: repeat canopy readings by two observers

Sample entry. This page shows a template’s layout only. Its names, text and figures are placeholders, not real work, and it comes down before the site launches.

This study checks whether two people using the sample app at the same plots get the same answer. Each of 30 plots is photographed twice, by different people, within two days. There are no results yet. This page states in advance what will count as a pass.

The same plots read again by a second observer within two days

The app passes if two observers’ readings at the same plot agree within ±5 percentage points at 90% or more of plots.

No results yet. They are added here when the study ends, and judged against the pass threshold above.

Method

Thirty plots will be placed at random across three stands of differing density. Each plot is photographed with the sample app by one observer, then again by a second observer within two days, following the same four-direction procedure. Neither observer sees the other’s readings.

The difference between the two readings at each plot is the measure of repeatability. The pass threshold above was set before any photos were taken.
